Simon is a Group Director and Legal Director for Accuro group based in Jersey. Simon is responsible for internal advice and assistance on legal and tax matters. He also works closely with external legal and tax advisers in connection with new and existing client structures. Simon also provides a wide range of legal and general advice to the Accuro group Board in all matters relating to the group’s operations.
Prior to joining Accuro in 2012, Simon was a senior lawyer for HM Revenue and Customs specialising in business and capital tax disputes, with conduct of cases at all levels from the First-tier Tax Tribunal to the House of Lords and the European Court of Justice. Cases include Jones v Garnett [2007] UKHL 35, Test Claimants In the Thin Cap Group Litigation v HMRC [2011] EWCA Civ 127 and Pitt v Holt; Futter v Futter [2011] EWCA Civ 197. Following qualification in 1997, Simon worked as a private client solicitor with a city firm in London.
Simon holds a BA in Politics and Philosophy from Durham University and a graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law. He is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and the Jersey Association of Trust Companies’ Management Committee.
